I hope you are enjoying a well-earned Summer break from full days of Zoom classroom! Like you, GSS eagerly awaits final notification and guidelines from NYS and ADNY regarding the reopening of school in September. We plan to open the school building five days, but how that looks depends on ADNY approval. Five days of remote learning from home is an option open to our families.
We know there will be new challenges and guidelines, and if we can approach them with prayer, hope, faith, and creativity, we will get through this together as a school family. Quite a bit of work is already in progress to get the physical plant ready. GSS is blessed with space, and we intend to use it! We will convert our large gym, auditorium, and two cafeterias into classroom space. Gym class and recess will be in the play-street
(weather permitting). However, to plan appropriately for required social distancing and the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff, I ask you to please complete this survey:
You must indicate your choice preference for instruction for your child(ren). One survey response per family is sufficient, provided you submit all your children's information. The choice you make must remain in effect through the quarter or until a reasonable time to review the case with approval from school administrators. Parents can opt to change to full-time remote learning from home at any time after communicating this choice in writing to the principal.
The ADNY will release a handbook and videos in the coming weeks outlining the reopening of school in September. More Good Shepherd School information will follow as the ADNY approves our plans.
We continue to be flexible and ask you to keep up with things as they change. Updates are available on the school website
https://gsschoolnyc.org/ and our social media platforms.
Let us all move forward, accepting St. Pio's challenge to "Pray, Hope, and Don't Worry!"
