Dear Parents,
Each day, as I work through unprecedented challenges, I am reminded, in a myriad of ways, of the sacrifices you are making to provide a Catholic education for your children. I am so grateful to you – and to our GSS students – for the energy, faithfulness, determination, and love that you are bringing to this enterprise.
Our teachers have responded to your commitment by developing online education that has exceeded our initial hopes. The ingenuity they have displayed and our students' embrace of their creativity is demonstrated on our school website, in social media, and, most importantly, in the high participation rates logged in our educational systems.
None of this would be possible without you. I hear daily from our teachers, "Good Shepherd School is our family!". On Monday, we held a live "Zoom" Rosary. Eighty-Four students with their parents and siblings joined faculty and staff in reciting this beautiful Marian prayer! Your partnership, spirit, and commitment to Good Shepherd make it a remarkable Catholic school community where Faith and academic excellence prevails!
This pandemic has forever changed all of us. In some cases, that change may be tough to bear, but if we can approach it with prayer, hope, Faith, and action, we will get through this together. I reach out again to offer assistance to those who are suffering financially from job loss or shortened work hours and to those whose children cannot access or complete work due to lack of technology at home. Please do not hesitate to make those needs known to me. Emergency tuition assistance is available. Generous donors have stepped up to make it possible for GSS to meet technology needs by providing the means to loan Chromebooks to students who have been working without home computers. We may also be able to direct you to other resources available through the Archdiocese.
Father Tom and I met with Mr. John Brennan, the Chairperson of Friends of Good Shepherd School, to discuss how we can continue to support our families financially as we move beyond this current school year. As a result of that meeting, I am delighted to announce an adjustment to our tuition and registration fees for 2020-21.
Updates regarding (Re-) Registration and Tuition 2020-2021
Early Bird Registration ending June 15
2020-21 Tuition Rates
2020-21 Financial Aid
As we look towards the new school year of 2020-2021, it is essential to have registration numbers to help effectively plan the curriculum and staffing needs.
If you have not yet registered or re-registered, please reach out to Mrs. Kennedy to make arrangements; hildakennedy@gsschoolnyc.org before June 15! She will gladly make an appointment with you to complete the registration process or collect payment for tuition or fundraising. Please recommend new students to Good Shepherd. We will continue to honor the "Recommendation" discount, as outlined in the Handbook.
Lastly, I am more grateful than I can say for your continued tuition payments. You know that we cannot teach the children without the work of the instructional specialists, our school administrators, and, most importantly, our teachers. Your tuition makes all of that possible, as it is the fuel that powers the engine of education. Thank you!
Kindest Regards,
Mrs. Geraldine Lavery
Principal
