"Pray, Hope, and Don't Worry!" St. Pio
May 1, 2020
Dear Parents,
Today, Michael J. Deegan announced that Catholic schools in the Arch Diocese of New York would remain closed for the school year. While we somewhat expected this mandate, it brings several questions and emotions to the forefront.
At Good Shepherd, we have already had the opportunity to collect feedback from our parents, faculty, and students, and hear about the many things that are going well, and make adjustments to serve our children better. We will regularly assess our performance as we continue remote-instruction. Thank you for your partnership and feedback!
Over the course of the next few weeks, administration and teachers will meet to discuss how we can honor our school traditions and celebrate our many student successes. We are committed to recognizing the UPK, Kindergarten, and Eighth Grade Classes of 2020, for their many achievements!
As we look towards the new school year of 2020-2021, it is essential to have registration numbers to help us plan the curriculum and our staffing needs. If you have not yet registered or re-registered, please reach out to Mrs. Kennedy to make arrangements; [email protected]. She will gladly make an appointment with you for either Tuesday, May 5, or Wednesday, May 6, to complete the registration process or collect payment for tuition or fundraising.
Here are a few updates as of this writing on May 1, 2020:
I want to acknowledge that our journey towards the end of the school year will be different, and will remain challenging. We all miss being together but know that we must do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. We will proceed with faith, not fear. As always, I am deeply grateful for your partnership as we re-define "school" during this pandemic. I know I can rely on each member of our community to band together, even when we're apart. Please count on my continued prayers for you and your loved ones.
Stay safe and well -
Kindest Regards,
Mrs. Geraldine Lavery
Principal
